About
INDIE WEEK INTERNATIONAL is an artist-friendly music festival that takes place in two hot beds of talent: Toronto and Ireland. Our artist showcases uncover some of the best indie artists and provide valuable opportunities for networking and exposure. Artist showcases are judged by industry professionals in A&R, management, productions and legal, to name a few, and the ‘Best of the Fest’ is awarded the amazing opportunity to discover new audiences across the Atlantic. The top band from INDIE WEEK CANADA wins a partial-expenses paid trip to perform in INDIE WEEK IRELAND and vice versa.
TORONTO
INDIE WEEK CANADA is strategically scheduled in the week between Pop Montreal and Pop Explosion Halifax / CMJ (New York). This allows international and local acts the opportunity to maximize their touring plans and budgets by participating in multiple October festivals. INDIE WEEK works with over 10 of downtown Toronto’s top live-music venues; in the past we have given artists the occasion to play at The Horseshoe Tavern, The Bovine Sex Club, The Rivoli, The Drake Hotel, Tattoo Rock Parlor, The Reverb, Holy Joe’s, The Hideout, El Mocambo, Rancho Relaxo, and more! Last year over 100 artists performed to an audience of over 4,000.
IRELAND
INDIE WEEK IRELAND was created after Irish bands were declared the Best of the Fest in Canada two years in a row. Unable to ignore the remarkable Irish talent, the European festival is now in its second year. INDIE WEEK IRELAND merges Canadian and Irish culture as it tours the country, landing in Dublin, Limerick, Galway and this year – Belfast! Since we are building a bridge between the two music cultures, we accept only non-North American acts to INDIE WEEK IRELAND – this guarantees a European band will win the trip overseas!
INDIE WEEK INTERNATIONAL is dedicated to helping artists. Having industry judges at showcases ensures industry in the room. In the past, artists, volunteers and staff have gone on to work with producers, managers, booking agents, labels, publicists, lawyers – as a result of meeting at INDIE WEEK. Artists must impress!
